Presidential Candidates

The Race for the White House Here at Frog King we felt it was time to aim the spotlight on the politicians who aspire to The White House. As the planet heats up under the greenhouse effect, it is only right that a future president feel the heat first, and we aim to turn it up. Global Warming threatens our Health, our Economy, our Security, and has its influence on all of the other major issues the candidates must address in the coming months. In our opinion, Global Warming should be the litmus test for our next Commander-in-Chief, because it is the fight for our planet that we most need to win. Selecting the 25 main presidential candidates from both the Republican and Democratic parties (the Green Party has yet to find a viable candidate), we’ve had a good look at their historical and pledged commitments (or otherwise) towards environmental sustainability. Taking into consideration all those promises and past records, we’ve also tried to give each candidate a mark ranging from very low to very high—our overall view about whether any particular candidate deserves your support as the party nomination season starts to heat up. All the candidates’ campaign or political offices have been contacted by Frog King and each individual review comprises a combination of statements made to Frog King, promises and commitments made elsewhere and relevant voting histories where applicable. Unsurprisingly, quite a few of the offices contacted were reluctant to discuss environmental causes championed by their presidential candidates, but Frog King is also pleased to report that other candidates show up in a more glowing light than might have been expected. Undoubtedly, the environment is going to be a key topic in the upcoming race for the White House—and it’s going to be fascinating to see which of the candidates choose to concentrate on how the US should approach the many issues that make up domestic and global environmental policy. Equally interesting will be those candidates who ignore the environment—and we will make it clear that they ignore those issues at their own peril! Obviously, we’ll keep you posted about developments as they occur and, from time to time, we’ll reassess our candidates’ ratings.
